TCNJ Votes is a student-run organization aiming to educate students and provide opportunities for them to learn about the importance of their vote. This organization looks to increase TCNJ’s student body voting rate and encourage as many students as possible to become civically engaged and utilize their right to vote. Here are some of the amazing events and initiatives this organization has manufactured this year!
Before the 2024 presidential election, TCNJ Votes worked hard to give students opportunities to learn about their presidential candidates. Events like this, a debate watch party, was the perfect chance for students to listen to their candidates in order to make an informed and educated vote.
This event is another example of how hard TCNJ Votes worked to educate the student body on the voting and election process. This presentation and resource fair was held to inform students on how they can become civically engaged in their government and why their vote is so important. This event was held by both TCNJ Votes and TCNJ”s Student Government’s Governmental Affairs.
This event was a collaboration between the Senators of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and TCNJ Votes to give students an opportunity to meet the individuals representing them in Student Government and also learn more about the voting process!
This event was held by TCNJ Votes and TCNJ Student Government’s Governmental Affairs and featured both the College Democrats and the College Republicans to engage in a civil conversation about the upcoming presidential election and give both groups the opportunities to express their opinions. This event gave the individuals participating a chance to hear other perspectives in a respectful way, ultimately further educating the student body on the vote they want to make.
This event was hosted by TCNJ Votes and TCNJ Student Government’s Governmental Affairs to show a documentary named “Slay the Dragon”, which advocates for the end of gerrymandering. This event gave students an opportunity to learn about a political term and broaden their political knowledge.
Walking to the Polls was an event held by both TCNJ Votes and TCNJ Student Government to encourage students to vote on Election Day. This event featured Student Government and TCNJ Votes members taking groups of students on a walk to their local voting location. This event provided students an opportunity to walk with other students to their voting location and feel supporte
d to exercise their right to vote on Election Day.
